| | this should be a new law..... | | Taegen's Law
Children are innocent, and rely upon their parents and family for protection. A child is dependent, trusting, and above all, vulnerable to harm at the hands of abusers. Conversely, a police officer chooses his or her profession, receives full combat and self-defense training, and is equipped with a full arsenal of skills and self-defense tools. It is typical for an officer of the law to wear a bulletproof vest and carry a combination of weapons including a baton, taser device and a revolver. In many states, murdering a police officer incurs a sentence of life in prison or else the death penalty. However, those who kill children face a less severe punishment, sometimes receiving a sentence of under 30 years. If we look at a child and a police officer side by side, aren't they equally entitled to full protection under the law and equal justice? If murdered, don't both of their killers deserve the same hard sentencing and punishment? Don't the families of both a law enforcement official and a precious child deserve the peace of mind that justice can bring? When it comes to the penalties levied against abusers and...
| | He's A Hero-A Great story of Fallen Officer Erfle | | Officer Erfle was a great hero among heros. He was killed by an illegal immigrant when Erfle and his partner stopped 3 jaywalkers and discovered one had a warrant. Erfle was a great hero and here is one of his amazing stories:About a year ago Erfle had been chasing a gunmen. The gunmen stopped in front of a crowded school yard, parents and buses were dropping off elementary school children. The gunmen Erfle was persueing had an AK-47. Erfle knew that one bullet would rip through his bulletproof vest, but instead of shielding himself with his police vechile, or behind the gunmen, Erfle stepped dircetly between the AK-47 and the busy schoolyard. Thankfully, this event ended peacefully. Officer Erfle is a great loss for Arizona; his family, his friends and even people that never even knew him. May he and his family remain in our prayers. | |
| | A Wife's Request | | I want to let everyone know up front I got this in my email and it is a copy and paste of that email. It made me cry, and I just wanted to share it. For those Americans who have loved ones in the military away from home in a foreign land this is for you.WIFE'S REQUESTI was sitting alone in one of those loud, casual steak houses that you find all over the country. You know the type--a bucket
Of peanuts on every table, shells littering the floor, and a
Bunch of perky college kids racing around with long neck
Beers and sizzling platters.Taking a sip of my iced tea, I studied the crowd over the rim
Of my glass. My gaze lingered on a group enjoying their meal. They wore no uniform to identify their branch of service, but
They were definitely "military:" clean shaven, cropped haircut,
And that "squared away" look that comes with pride.Smiling sadly, I glanced across my table to the empty seat
Where my husband usually sat.It had only been a few months since we sat in this very booth,
Talking about his upcoming deployment to the Middle East .That was when he made me promise to get a sitter for the kids,
Come back to this restaurant once a month and...
| | how to hurricane-proof your house | | How to Hurricane-Proof Your House
Ready for the Storm?
By ELISABETH LEAMY
Biloxi, Miss., Aug. 31, 2006 —
Hurricane Katrina destroyed more than 175,000 homes along the Gulf Coast.
Critics say that it didn't have to happen and that it's possible to build houses to withstand storms.
Shockingly, however, 14 states in this country have no building codes to make sure homes are built soundly.
Louisiana adopted a building code after Katrina, but Mississippi still does not have one.
Building codes are only the bare minimum.
There's a movement growing to build houses that are fortified well beyond what's required by code, but how do builders figure out what it takes to make houses disaster resistant?
They crash test them.
Why would anybody use air cannons and construction cranes to destroy perfectly good houses?
To simulate the chaos of a hurricane and to learn how to build houses better. "Let's build stronger. Let's build smarter. Let's build safer upfront. We don't have to go through this on the other end," said Doug Raucy of the Institute for Business and Home Safety.
The "fortified for safer living" standard, developed by the Institute for Business and Home...
| | Do you think the majority of Americans are ungrateful and spoiled? | | I was reading this article and it really brought some points into view that got me to thinking - sharing it here to see how others may see it and what they may think about it. While I do agree that alot of it is true and does "hit the nail on the head," I hope that I do not fall into this category myself. Thanks for your thoughts!

JAY LENO..." HITS THE NAIL ON THE HEAD""The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right? The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the president. In essence, two-thirds of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, 'What we are so unhappy about?'Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the s ummer and heating in the winter? Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job? Maybe it is the ability to walk into...
| | Tupac is alive and well, read! | | The answer to the question that has stalked mankind for years! Is Tupac alive, well have a look at the reasons presented below and tell me what you think!1. 2Pac began calling himself Makaveli. Machiavelli was an Italian war strategist who advocated faking one's death to fool their enemies. 2Pac was a fan of Machiavelli and had read his books. Perhaps 2Pac is taking his advice?(But that is not all Machiavelli did... Nicolo Machiavelli was a political, military theorist, historian, playwright, diplomat, and military planner. He is well known today. Some of his works are "The Prince" (1513), and The Art of War (1521). NOTE: Bone Thugs 'N' Harmony's new double album which features 2Pac is called "The Art Of War." Coincedence Or Not???)2. 2Pac was cremated the day after he died. Since when does some one get cremated the day after a murder? There was no autopsy. Plus, no one can ask to dig up his grave like they wanted to do with Elvis and like they did with Abraham Lincoln.(An autopsy picture "leaked" onto the Internet, click here to take a look. However, this could easily be a fake picture.)3. 2Pac has completed several movies and new albums and keeps on appearing... | |
