| Do you live near Bad People? | | The street on which I live on only has 5 homes. One of the homes is actually a duplex, which is two small one-floor apartments next to each other that share a common wall down the middle. Unfortunately, the landlord of the duplex likes to rent to some "bad elements" - people who do not work, take and deal in drugs, are disrespectful to us neighbors, and can easily be called "white trash". You know these people are bad when the town and county police/sheriff know the persons by name and even suggest you have a gun in your home just in case. Hmmmm. Thankfully, the law enforcement said they were going to try and get someone undercover in there (in these people's group of friends that come over daily) and thus hopefully catch these folks in more than just petty possession and such. The point of this post is to ask, for those who live near bad people, how do you deal with them in your daily lives? My husband and I frequently find ourselves watching these folks out our windows, making sure they are not up to something bad. They like to litter the roads with beer cans and the like, let their dog run loose, talk loudly, be active at all hours of the day and night, etc. Enough... | |
| | We went to a Patriotic Music Concert | | We went to a Patriotic Music Concert tonight. It was presented by a local church here. They did a terrific job!!It was held at the fairgrounds and the grandstand was full. My son uses a wheelchair so we were right down in the front row.
They did a tribute to all military and service personnel. They had people from the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force and the Marines. The local Police, Sheriff, State Highway Patrol, Firemen, and Paramedics.
They had 2 big screens set up and showed clips of each at work! They did the 21 gun salute, and also shot off cannons! It was definitely a nice tribute, and a reminder to not take our freedom for granted.
My 16 year old son was really impressed with the whole thing. It really was a nice night for it too.
The church needs a big thumbs up!! It was put together very well. You would think they had done the concert over and over, but they hadn't. They did a great job and it was very well organized. Definitely a great way to spend the evening! | |
| | do u think 'no country for old men' deserved an oscar? | | well i was a lot disappointed after watching the oscar-winning movie, 'the departed'. it turned out to be just a mediocre movie with over the top usage of the 'F' word.and the next year they award no country for old men with the oscar and oh boy, didn't this movie sucked or what? u've got the psycho killer on the loose searching for his money, a guy who has stolen the money and keeps running from him and various other people who just fall victim to the villain. the plot is pretty plain and there was a little bit of thrill in the movie, the madman's weapon was crazy but then there wasn't anything else to actually enjoy. it had horrible dialogue and sound, not because i found it hard to follow the southern accent, but most of the dialogues were merely murmurs and whispers that were inaudible even at high volume, and then there would be a gunshot and i would find myself lowering the volume again.i still dont understand the movie at all... is there some big detail that i am missing??? here's the story that i understood.. two mobs involved in gun fight
